iOS 16 Will Not Reach iPhone 6s, iPhone 7 SE; Apple Watch Series 3 is not eligible for watchOS 9.

Apple has confirmed that iOS 16 will not be available for older iPhone models than the iPhone 8. This means that iOS 16 will not be available to iPhone 7 and 6s owners, as well as the original iPhone SE owners. Apple quietly removed the Apple Watch Series 8 model from its compatible Apple Watch models list for watchOS 9. Both watchOS and iOS 16 will be available to test under public betas starting in July. They will then be made available as free software updates to eligible hardware later this summer.

The new software will not work with the iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone 7 Plus. Instead, the compatible model list for iOS 16 updates starts with the iPhone 8 (2020) and iPhone SE (2021). The oldest eligible device for iOS 16 is the iPhone 8, which was launched in 2017.

The iPhone 6s series was released in 2015. The iPhone 7 and iPhone SE models were launched in 2016.

These models, even though they are old, received iOS 15 last summer. This is a departure from the way that many Android smartphone manufacturers treat their users. They often provide software updates for older models. However, Samsung and Google have begun to change this by promising to provide software updates for their selected models for as long as four years and security upgrades for up five years.3D Tech

The iPod touch (7th Generation) is also included in the list of devices not eligible to receive iOS 16. It's the last-generation iPod. The iPod touch (7th Generation) was released in May 2019, a little later than the iPhone 6.

Apple confirmed that the Apple Watch Series 3 would not receive the watchOS 9 updates. This particular model was released in 2017, and it received watchOS 8 last summer.

The Apple Watch Series 3 was ineligible to update and the Apple Watch Series 4 is now the oldest model to receive watchOS 9.

Cupertino now requires that you upgrade any of your older Apple devices to receive the most current software experience. Apple will continue to offer security updates for some devices that are not eligible to receive the most recent software.

Apple also announced Monday at its WWDC 2022 keynote that iOS 16 and macOS Ventura public beta versions will be available for users to test in July. However, the exact release dates have not been announced.

Apple released the latest iOS, iPadOS and watchOS software versions before making them available to the public. This was done for Apple Developer Program participants. Without any pomp and circumstance, Apple has released the first developer preview of tvOS 9.
